5:54 pm - Please take my survey (and spread the word!)

yesthattom

Sorry if this is a bit OT, but would some Rummy fans help me with this survey?

I’m curious about “recommendation engines”, the systems that enable Amazon and NetFlix to make recommendations like “People who bought _____ also bought ____”. I’m conducting experiments to build such a system. To do that, I need raw data. Would you help me by filling out my survey?

Click HERE to take the survey NOW (U.S. citizens only).

I’m doing this in my spare time as a hobby. I am a computer system administrator and author but this is a side-project. I’ll keep the data private and secure. I’m not collecting names or email addresses thus the data is useless to marketing companies and spammers. There is a link to a privacy policy on the survey.

All that I ask is that you answer the questions honestly.

For best results, I need to collect information from at least 10,000 people of a large variety of political, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds. Since most of my friends are in a similar political leaning, I really need help finding people outside my social circle to fill out the survey. If you could spread the word (blogs, etc.) between now and the end of June (I’m shutting off the survey on July 1, 2008).

Thanks!

carlomelo
well...I'm new here! :3
Just wanna share a Rumsfeld pic-spam post.

Here's Rumsfeld from the 1960s-70s...when he worked for both Nixon and Ford! :P

More young Rummy pics...Collapse )

He was so yummeh (and now too), I thought this place would be the best place to share.
Besides...I don't want this community to die. :3
I've been wondering if there are any Rummy communities here on LJ....
Apparently, this is the only one! :O

It saddens me to say this, but I feel Rumsfeld needs to go, this whole deal with these vehicles needing more armor, is not a legitimate excuse, since it has come out that more vehicles can be equipped, and guys are being prosecuted for armoring them themselves. These guys are being killed in roadside bombs because they don't have the protection needed. We need to protect our troops that are in harms way. I have lost respect for Rummy, and President Bush needs to do something so I don't loose his respect as well. I dunno if any of you feel the same.

Here's a list of some events that happened before and after September 11th. I was wondering what you think of them.

January, 2001 – The Bush Administration orders the FBI and intelligence agencies to "back off" investigations involving the bin Laden family, including two of Osama bin Laden’s relatives (Abdullah and Omar) who were living in Falls Church, VA – right next to CIA headquarters. This followed previous orders dating back to 1996, frustrating efforts to investigate the bin Laden family. [Source: BBC Newsnight, Correspondent Gregg Palast – Nov 7, 2001].

Summer 2001 – An Iranian man phones U.S. law enforcement to warn of an imminent attack on the World Trade Center in the week of September 9th. German police confirm the calls but state that the U.S. Secret Service would not reveal any further information. [Source: German news agency "online.de", September 14, 2001, translation retrieved from online.ie in Ireland.]

May 2001 – Secretary of State Colin Powell gives $43 million in aid to the Taliban regime, purportedly to assist hungry farmers who are starving since the destruction of their opium crop in January on orders of the Taliban regime. [Source: The Los Angeles Times, May 22, 2001].

August 11 or 12 – US Navy Lt. Delmart "Mike" Vreeland, jailed in Toronto on U.S. fraud charges and claiming to be an officer in U.S. Naval intelligence, writes details of the pending WTC attacks and seals them in an envelope which he gives to Canadian authorities. [Source: The Toronto Star, Oct. 23, 2001; Toronto Superior Court Records]

August 2001 – Russian President Vladimir Putin orders Russian intelligence to warn the U.S. government "in the strongest possible terms" of imminent attacks on airports and government buildings. [Source: MS-NBC interview with Putin, September 15.]

September 9-10, 2001, FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) arrives in New York City and starts working the next morning after the attacks [Source: Posted by Dan Rather Dec. 16, 2001.]

September 11, 2001, For 50 minutes, from 8:15 AM until 9:05 AM, with it widely known within the FAA and the military that four planes have been simultaneously hijacked and taken off course, no one notifies the President of the United States. It is not until 9:30 that any Air Force planes are scrambled to intercept, but by then it is too late. This means that the National Command Authority waited for 75 minutes before scrambling aircraft, even though it was known that four simultaneous hijackings had occurred – an event that has never happened in history. [Sources: CNN, ABC, MS-NBC, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times.]

September 14, 2001 – Canadian jailers open the sealed envelope from Mike Vreeland in Toronto and see that is describes attacks against the WTC and Pentagon. The U.S. Navy subsequently states that Vreeland was discharged as a seaman in 1986 for unsatisfactory performance and has never worked in intelligence. [Source: The Toronto Star, Oct. 23, 2001; Toronto Superior Court records]

September 13, 2001 – China is admitted to the World Trade Organization quickly, after 15 years of unsuccessful attempts. [Source: The New York Times, Sept. 30, 2001.]

October 10, 2001 – The Pakistani newspaper The Frontier Post reports that U.S. Ambassador Wendy Chamberlain has paid a call on the Pakistani oil minister. A previously abandoned Unocal pipeline from Turkmenistan, across Afghanistan, to the Pakistani coast, for the purpose of selling oil and gas to China, is now back on the table "in view of recent geopolitical developments."

November 2, 2001 – 1200 PST -- On October 31, the French daily Le Figaro dropped a bombshell. While in a Dubai hospital receiving treatment for a chronic kidney infection last July, Osama bin Laden met with a top CIA official - presumably the Chief of Station. The meeting, held in bin Laden’s private suite, took place at the American hospital in Dubai at a time when he was a wanted fugitive for the bombings of two U.S. embassies and this year’s attack on the U.S.S. Cole. Bin Laden was eligible for execution according to a 2000 intelligence finding issued by President Bill Clinton before leaving office in January. Yet on July 14th he was allowed to leave Dubai on a private jet and there were no Navy fighters waiting to force him down.

November 25, 2001 – The Observer runs a story headlined "Victorious Warlords Set To Open the Opium Floodgates." It states that farmers are being encouraged by warlords allied with the victorious Americans are "being encouraged to plant "as much opium as possible."

Feb 18, 2002 – The Financial Times reports that the estimated opium harvest in Afghanistan in the late Spring of 2002 will reach a world record 4500 metric tons.

December 4, 2001 – Convicted drug lord and opium kingpin Ayub Afridi is recruited by the US government to help establish control in Afghanistan by unifying various Pashtun warlords. The former opium smuggler who was one of the CIA’s leading assets in the war against the Russians is released from prison in order to do this. [Source: The Asia Times Online, 12/4/01].

January 10, 2002 – In a call from a speaker phone in open court, attorneys for "Mike" Vreeland call the Pentagon’s switchboard operator who confirms that Vreeland is indeed a Naval Lieutenant on active duty. She provides an office number and a direct dial phone extension to his office in the Pentagon. [Source: Attorney Rocco Galati; court records Toronto Superior Court.]

For the record, I don't like John Kerry or the Democratic party. I'm just looking to have some conversation.

10:42 pm - GIN RUMMY

sexycelticgirl
Today, while taking a drive in the country ( actually on the way to get my drivers license renewed ...." drive in the country " sounds much more nostalgic ! ) I nearly drove off the little windy road as I was listening to Neil Boortz' radio show ( a conservative talk show aired nationally ) . Donald was a guest and basically telling Neil about the percentages of troops that are entering the military and so forth..my heart welled up with pride and went pitty pat as I drove happily to my destination. Anyone catch it ?!

By the way...lets come up with a schedule on this community that charts upcoming appearances or shows Don is going to be on.

12:55 am - Thank you!

sexycelticgirl
I cannot believe I found this community ! Thank you, thank you, thank you !

I have been OBSESSED with Donald ever since I first saw him, and heard him speak. I absolutely love how he puts those idiotic Liberal reporters in their place at press conferences !....
" Of course we must eliminate them. They are terrorists who want to destroy us !"....
his straight forward leadership is refreshing. I love George Bush, but Donald as president would be wonderful too !

I ve read his biography many places, and know he has a strong military background, but I often wonder if he was in ( or probably still in ! ) and part of the CIA. Thats something that usually doesnt go public, but it seems he and George Tennant are inseperable. I know he is in a prominent position that warrants that, but I just wonder !

Anyone have any thoughts on this ?! Thanks !

PS I thought it was great when Toby Keith, the country music star, dedicated his music award to Donald on national television !

4:33 pm - Some of the reasons Rumsfeld is so hot

ringsofbenzene
Because of my inordinate and undying love for Donald Rumsfeld, I have now joined this community of fellow Rumsfeld fans (and lover's, perhaps?).

I have been accused of being weird because I think Donald Rumsfeld is the hottest man alive (yeah, everyone says "eww" and you are welcome to, as well). This "crush" has gone on now for close to a year, and with each day it grows, much to everyone else's dismay.

Of almost all other politicians in the Bush administration, Rumsfeld not only is wise, but he also is a great communicator, very quotable. His facial expressions and hand gestures are, to say the least, mesmerizing and his words poetic.

12:54 am - A cool pic

Firgured I'd join this community, as Rumsfeld is one of my favorite people ever. Now he's taking a lot of flack for that prison abuse, which he had no control over. And yet he's willing to take responsibility to do what needs to be done to fix the problem. He's doing the right thing. These whining liberals are not.

Let's see if anyone actually joins this... it's worth a shot. There have got to be more Rummy!fans out there, I would think.

I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who thinks that this is one of the best things ever.
